We all have energy running through our bodies and powering our lives. One of the names we give this energy is “life force,” because it is so important to life and to a healthy life. But that energy can be affected by both internal and external forces and can be thrown out of balance. That is why it is important that we need to take the time to rebalance our energy.
There are simple things you can do to help correct energetical imbalances.
Why We Need to Rebalance
Internal factors can unbalance our energy. Stress is the main factor that can throw our energy off. You may noticed that when you are stressed, you describe yourself as “scattered.” Your mind is running a mile a minute and your thoughts are jumping all over. That is a perfect description for your energy in times of stress. Your energy will be bouncing all over instead of flowing through your body the way it should.
External factors can also unbalance our energy. These include our many electronic devices, including computers, cell phones, and any smart device that you might wear. They have electricity and electromagnetic waves flowing through them, and that can disrupt the energy flowing through us.
Other people’s energy has an impact on our own. You might have been to a concert or sporting event where everyone was very excited, and that impacted your own energy, boosting it higher than is normal for you. If you are in a situation with a lot of people who are feeling stressed, their scattered energy can impact you, even if you aren’t directly involved.
Our environment can also affect our energy. We have the opportunity to be in a variety of different environments at work, at home, in our other activities, and as we practice our hobbies. A windowless office with grey walls and fluorescent lights will impact your energy much differently than being in a garden with tall trees and beautiful, colorful flowers.
Internal Tools to Rebalance
Even in the middle of one of these situations where your energy is getting out of balance and scattering, you can use internal tools to ground yourself and rebalance your energy. The best internal tools are mindfulness practices, like meditation, prayer, and mindfulness.
One simple mindfulness practice combines observation and the five senses. The purpose is to ground you back in your immediate environment and calm your energy. To do it, you observe in the room five things you can see, four things you can hear, three things you can touch, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste.
A simple meditation practice is to pay attention to your breathing. It is often helpful to count as you do this. Counting down from 27 gives you an odd number which requires a little more attention. Simply count 27 inhale, 27 exhale, 26 inhale, 26 exhale…. You can stop when you feel calm or start over when you get to 1.
External Tools to Rebalance
Sometimes we need a little extra push to get our energy back in balance. There are a variety of wonderful external tools that can help us ground and get our focus back.
Epsom Salt Soak
An epsom salt soak at night can help to reground your body. Fill the bathtub full of hot water, add 1-2 cups of epsom salts, and a couple drops of an essential oil. Then just soak and breathe deeply for a little while. This helps to wash away all the stresses that happened throughout the day and can help you sleep better.
If you start to take an epsom salt soak at night, it is important to get out of the bath and stay away from your devices. Try taking a bath just before bed and then go get into bed. If you’re not sleepy yet, read a paperback book or talk to your family for a few minutes.
Aromatherapy is using scents to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. Smells can have their own vibration and we can use that vibration to raise our own vibration and energy.
One way to use aromatherapy is with a room spray. Indigo Wild has a wonderful room spray called Zum Mist. It comes in a variety of scents, so you can keep it in every room at the office and at home as well. Spraying this into the room can help change the vibration and how you feel very quickly.
One key with room sprays is to get one that does not have toxic chemicals. Zum Mist is made with pure essential oils and no toxic chemicals.
Essential oils are also a wonderful way to practice aromatherapy. You can make your own room spray with essential oils, or you can mix them with a little coconut oil and put the blend on your body. Another option is to get a diffuser and let it pump the essential oil out into the room. You can get bottles of a single essential oil like lavender which is known for its calming properties or you can get blends like “Peace and Harmony” that have several oils mixed together.
Flowers, plants, and trees all have a vibration as well, and their vibration can help to raise our own. Having a bouquet of fresh flowers in your home can help to raise the vibration. You can also keep potted plants and they can also help you to reground.
All of these tools are small changes that can help balance your energy. Balancing your energy can help improve your mental and physical health.
